Food is life. Across time, representations of food reveal and record its importance and functions: sustenance, cure, comfort, communion, and ritual.
This online course opens a window onto how western European artists pictured food. It is designed to refine your skill in using soft pastels to convey an array of shapes, surfaces, and textures, inspired by masterful examples of 17th & 18th-centuries artists. Three weekly live demonstrations, and tailored guidance and feedback between one session and the next will provide technical know-how, inspiration, and time for you to further your own practice.
